School Career:
- He achieved his School leaving Certificate at the Grammar School with full marks, in July 1983.
- He matriculated at Genoa University, Faculty of Sciences, in 1983 and he took his degree in Physics. During his studies he took up Solid State, Nuclear and Experimental Physics.
- He accomplished his doctoral thesis in February 1991 at the University of Genoa. The work concerned "Composition and thermal treatment effects on physical properties of cathodes in LixNi1-xO for Molten Carbonates Fuel Cells"; reporters were Prof. C. Rizzuto and Dr. M. Ferretti.
Experimental work was carried out at the Ansaldo Ricerche laboratories and at the
Chemical-Physics Institute of the University of Genoa.
- From November 1993 to October 1996 he was a PhD student in Chemistry for Engineering, at the Institute of Chemistry, Faculty of Engineering, University of Genoa. In July 1997 he obtained the PhD title, presenting a thesis with the title: "Studies on mixed oxides for technological applications".
Extracurricular Studies:
- In 1986 he attended a stage at the laboratories of Applied Materials Chemical-Physics Institute of C.N.R., about wettability problems in microgravity.

He attended the II National School of Superconductivity (Vietri - SA, 1992).

He attended the III National School of Materials Science (Rome, 1992).
- He attended the network NATO "Materials Aspects of High Tc Superconductivity: 10 years after the discovery² (Delphi, august 1996).
- From October 1995 to March 1996 he attended a stage on synthesis and characterisation of oxides for catalysis, at the ISMRA-CRISMAT laboratories directed by Prof. B. Raveau and at the Laboratoire de Spectrochimie et Catalyse directed by Prof. J.C. Lavalley, in Caen (France).
Language knowledge
- He is proficient in both written and spoken English and French.
He followed periodical courses of English in Great Britain at the Colchester English Study Centre, from 1985 to 1988 and he got Top Level Certificate with Science & Technology specialisation.
Job experience:
- Since October 1991 he has worked as a Physics Researcher at the Chemical-Physics Institute of the University of Genoa, in the field of the High Tc Superconducting Compounds. The researches have been carried out for both University and I.N.F.M. account.
- From January 1997 to August 1998 he has been post-doc researcher at Laboratoire de Catalyse et Spectrochimie of ISMRA in Caen (France) as a TMR Young Researcher (CEZIRENCAT contract N° ERB FMRX-CT96-0060).
- Starting on 1st September 1998, he is Associate Professor at Laboratoire de Catalyse et Spectrochimie of ISMRA, Caen (France).
Scientific Publications:
- He has contributed to 33 scientific papers published on international journals and he communicated his works to 35 national and international conferences.
- He was a member of the Organising Committee of the "First World Conference on Environmental Catalysis", Pisa, 1-5 May 1995.
- He is co-author of the following patents:
"Induction furnace for metals fusion"; n° GE95A 000088 (02/08/1995).
"Procédé de traitement d’une composition à base d’oxyde de cérium pour augmenter la capacité de stockage de l’oxygène de cette composition" (N° FR 98 018 33 du 16/03/1998).
