Curriculum Vitae
Matteo Cargnello was born in 1984. He obtained the bachelor's degree in
Chemistry in 2006 at the University of Trieste discussing a thesis titled
"Syntheses of pyridine-containing thiols for the preparation of mixed
monolayers onto gold nanoparticles" under the supervision of Prof.
L. Pasquato.
From January, 2007 he works in the group of Professors Fornasiero and
Graziani. In July, 2008, with his thesis "Nanostructures
based on palladium and gold as heterogeneous catalysts", written
under the supervision of Prof. P. Fornasiero, he obtained the "Laurea
Specialistica" in Chemistry.
He has been visiting student in various institutions, including the ICCOM-CNR
in Florence (Italy, February 2009, Dr.
G. Giambastiani) and the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras
(India, April 2009, Prof. G. Ranga Rao).
From September until December 2008 he joined the group of Prof.
Raymond J. Gorte at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering,
University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA, to spend a research period
as Visiting Undergraduate Student working on core-shell catalysts.
In June-July 2010 and March 2011 he was Visiting Graduate Student at the
Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering and Inorganic
Chemistry of the University of Cadiz, Spain, in the group of Dr.
Juan José Delgado and Prof. Serafin Bernal, for the characterization
of core-shell Pd@CeO2 catalysts with advanced TEM
techniques.
In April-September 2011 he was Visiting Graduate Student at the Department
of Chemistry, University of Pennsylvania, in the group of Prof.
Chris B. Murray, working on tailored nanomaterials for catalytic applications.
In March, 2012 he obtained the PhD in Nanotechnology at the University
of Trieste with the thesis "Tailored
nanoarchitecture based on transition metals for heterogeneous catalysis".
